So I made the jump from Windows XP to Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. (Won't request the 64bit media for a while).

So far, I have not found the upgrade worth it; nothing special, just issues with compatability.

As far as my graphics card, I wan't to know if there has been any significant video driver update, or any other important update from dell regarding Windows Vista. The lack of support from Dell in drivers is awful.

I have not received any video drivers for Vista since my installation 3 months ago

Here are my Dell E1705 Specs:

    Windows Vista 32bit
2.16 GHz Core 2 Dual Processor
    2 GB of RAM @ 667MHz
GeForce Go 7900GS (Overclocked from 375/500 to 480/1100)

Also, I noticed that the original Nvidia control panel that came preinstalled with my E1705 XP are not in my Vista version. I have no way to control my video card. What can I do about this?

    Thank you all!

I just recently installed nvidia Forceware 160.03 drivers from laptopvideo2go and I've seen a huge increase in performance. I have my 7900 clocked at 575/1150 and these drivers have been pretty magnificent for me at least. Before this on tho, it was kind of a hit/miss for me.

Well, im trying to stay with the dell drivers, but dell has been really slow in regards to Vista.

These drivers you installed are for Vista correct?

I just tried playing Counter-Strike, and it stated it does not support my current video settings: OpenGL?!?

This never happened in XP. Im very surpriced at how most companies have lacked driver updates after several months of the release of Vista.

Yea, dell drivers are stable and should work for the most part, but may not be the fastest. The Forceware drivers I installed are for vista 32bit. Getting them from Laptopvideo2go tho takes a little bit more work than usual, but to me it was well worth it.

If CS is saying that opengl isn't supported, that might mean that you don't have any drivers installed for your card. At least that's what I think.

You guys have 7900 gs's right? Are you guys experiencing any stuttering problems? Like, having your game stutter every 3 seconds or so and not stop in Vista?

or can someone just post a link to a decent vista 32bit driver for 7900 please. please.

You wouldn't happen to have the inf file for 160.03 would you? Both the inf and driver links are not working. I can get the driver from elsewhere. I have been reading that many of the Vista beta drives cause many problems like no 3D speed increases over the original 97.xx drivers, BSOD, fan on constantly with no way to adjust in the driver, not being able to fully remove the driver once you upgrade, and crashes when you play a 3D game for a while. Had any of these problems on you E1705? Let me know how it is working for you.

Jessi it maybe be because you have 2 drivers installed at once? Try deleting both and reinstalling the one you want.
I had stutters and it worked for me.
