Hi, I've recently upgraded my Dell Inspiron 6400 to 64 bit.

This leaves me unable to find the correct software/drivers.

I need the Synaptics software. If I go to the Synaptics site and download the default software, I am unable to use the *two button* gesture whereby you press both buttons below the touchpad, which allows you to close a tab in Firefox/IE, which I find important.

Are there any 64 bit laptops that Dell sell that contain the same touchpad, or one that uses the same software.

Secondly. I need a 64 bit edition of Quickset, or an alternative, so I can see m volume adjusting with the media buttons etc.

    Thanks in advance.

Because there is no Vista 64 bit software, DELL supports only 32 bit on this laptop.
It is 64 bit capable though but will never get all the drivers and software needed because it’s an EOL (end of life) product. If you want a 64 bit laptop go and buy a new notebook that is what DELL wants, to make a profit. Supporting 64 bit on Inspiron 1505 doesn’t make them any money, contrary; it costs them money developing additional 64 bit software. I think you get the picture ….64 bit is possible but you will have to endure some “limitations”.

It just takes some finangling on Dell's website to get what you want...

Search Dell's website for laptops with the hardware that you have and driver you want. You'll get all the drivers it just takes a bit of work.

I had my i1520 on Vista 64 with all drivers without issue (just took hunting).

You can try Dell's "Touchpad" driver they are using on newer machines like the Studio 15 or the like as they seem to be leaning toward a unified Dell driver for both Synaptics and ALPS hardware.
