I just spoke to a tech support rep today about my DVD drive (second replacement) and they are sending me out a NEC drive this time but I also asked him about the warranty. Gave him the scenario run.
He said that if I were to replace the screen with one that did not originally come with the screen it would be treated as an upgrade to the system. The screen part of the warranty would become void but the remainder of the system warranty would remain intact. Also it should be installed either yourself or by an authorized repair center.
At first he just said the warranty would be void but I asked him more questions in order to clear it up.
So if I wanted to lump down $600 for that glossy screen then I won't have to worry about the motherboard warranty disappearing on me.
P.S. - Why the second dvd replacement? I complained that the first drive didn't read well and created coasters quite often. So they sent me out a Phillips drive as a replacement. I complained that this one was too noisy and I could feel the entire laptop shake as it read discs. It read them ok but the noise level was enough to become annoying and distract when watching a dvd. It took me one day to come back and complain about that. Oh and my first replacement came with a whole set of replacement discs so I have second and third copies of alot of things. Anyone need a reinstall disc for MD2? I have 2 copies now. lol

"STOP ASKING QUESTIONS OR I'LL VOID YOUR WARRANTY"
And what $600 screen?
Upgrades and your system warranty
