I'm on the verge of buying a studio 17. A couple of things are making me hesitant, namely the older intel chips and the semi-half baked HD 3650. I'm wondering if people are anticipating any changes in the next couple of weeks, i.e.: upgrading their original hardware specs from when this thing was released back in early June (is that right)? I'm also wondering if what I'm experiencing is the classic phenomenon when buying some technological gadget, when your hair can turn grey as you wait for the next baddest thing to come out. But yeah, I was hoping a bit more oomph than what you can configure it with from ATI and Intel right now.

Random question too: is the power supply for the studio 17 dramatically larger than the 15?

    Thanks for your feedback.

I heard the Celeron 2 chips are soon to be introduced to the Studio line. But I can't afford to wait as I need the laptop now now now. Give Dell a call and ask them.

Well upgrading to the T9300 processor from the base model T5750 will cost you an extra $300. I wonder what the price tag will be with the new Centrino 2

Do you think they would really tell me if they were going to upgrade soon??? Seems like that would prevent them from emptying out their inventory. Just a thought.

I guess I'm wondering how Dell has done it in the past. Is totally random, or do they usually wait 2 months, 3 months to incoporate the new technology, which is clearly available now. Or do they implement it into the XPS line first, and all that existing highend then trickles down to the Inspiron/Studio line?

I really want a better GPU than the HD 3650. I also really like the look/design of the studio series.. :(

My guess is that Dell will be releasing the new Centrino 2 and the flush screen option by the end of the month, else they will lose even more sales to HP.

I'm hedging my bets but my i9300 can hold out for a while longer.

they aren't losing any sales to hp. the average computer user has no idea what the difference is between hp's and dell's processors.

Enlighten us; what is the difference between their processors? As I understand they are both made by Intel. Me no get it.
