    Hi guys,

Have a quick query. I can't find a solid answer anywhere, but I'm trying to find out whether an OS upgrade on a dell is possible? I read somewhere that there are certain BIOS blocks, so I wanted to make sure an off the shelves vista OEM will work with on a UK Dell Inspiron 6400 which currently has XP.

    Kind regards.

I know vista will work, I'm trying to find out whether OS upgrades can be done on the laptop. i.e. Does dell have BIOS blocks or anything?

No they don't and i've never heard of a BIOS block......

Just go for it. During the install you've an option to upgrade your XP installation or wipe it and start again. Wiping it and starting with a fresh install is your best bet.

I was trying to find out if there's anything that might stop the upgrade that's all.

    Many thanks!

Nope there shouldn't be any problem w/ the upgrade, if ever you can get hold of a vista anytime upgrade try to use that so that you can check for the compatibility of your softwares from xp. So that there wont be any conflict regarding this.
