I'm considering getting a m1210, and it seems Dell charges 200 bucks to upgrade from 1 gig to 2 gigs of ram. How easy is it to install more ram in it, and what would I need....keep in mind I've never opened up a computer before, so this seems like a bigger task to me than it is to mostof you.

yeah u definitely want to buy ram separately and install it yourself. it's much cheaper. newegg.com is the place to look for ram. For your laptop you'll want 200-pin ddr2, either 533mhz or 667mhz depending on your front side bus speed of your processor. All u need to install ram is a GOOD screwdriver. Coincidentally, i tried to open the ram compartment to my laptop just last night and TOTALLY stripped the screw and now it won't budge whatsoever. Same happened with my old laptop. If this happens to you, try going to a hardware store and see if they can get the screw out.

When you buy more RAM, go for a reputable brand such as Kingston, Crucial, Corsair or OCZ.

    Good luck Chris,

keep in mind the guide that I've written works for the M1210 too as it is the exact same procedures (take my word for it).

you'll need not only a screwdriver, but a plastic or metal scribe you can find at walmart.

Good luck and hope things work out well for you.

btw, don't be afraid to purchase brands like supertalent (which I recommend) because they use micron chips the same ones found on higher priced and brand named RAM modules.
