Is it possible to upgrade the wireless networking card to the intel 4965.... and if so, how hard is it? and where can I get one from?

this pertains to the XPS M1330 to be specific. Currently it has the intel 3945 card in there.

It's going to depend on your wireless card, but I'm fairly certain most laptops using a mini-PCI wireless card can be upgraded to the 4965. You should probably contact your reseller to make sure of this. Generally, your reseller can also point you in the right direction for getting the card, but several online notebook resellers sell the 4965.

As I said, speak with your reseller first to be absolutely certain you can upgrade.

Just saw your second post. If it is already using the 3945, it should definitely be able to use the 4965. You can either give Dell a call and ask them for the card, or you can shop around with other resellers.

Generally, the wireless card is going to be in one of the access panels on the bottom of your notebook. if it is not, it might require removing the keyboard to replace it, so you may want to check for your current wireless card first, and give Dell's online help desk a chat to request a disassembly guide/service manual if you don't see it on a cursory glance.

PowerNotebooks.com, a company I work closely with, has the 4965 for sale for $40.00 at:
