I plan on formatting my laptop, and using the Vista upgrade disc to install Vista onto my laptop.

A few things I'm wondering about though:

    1. Do I need to reinstall Windows XP first before 'upgrading' to Vista or can I just use the upgrade disc to install Vista.

    2. Any driver issues I should be aware of, for example, graphics, the webcam, soundcard drivers, etc. Any issues that exist within Vista that Dell has not addressed?

    3. With the Dell Vista Upgrade disc, is there any bloatware and stuff on it, and if there is, how can I do a clean install of Vista with the upgrade disc?

    Thanks for the help.

The only thing I can tell you is to really think about it before making the switch. I upgraded my desktop to Vista, and ended up going back.

    do you play games?
if so then i would dual boot
vista is only really lacking good graphics drivers and thats about all

you only need the upgrade disc if you want to do a clean install ,just google for how
    and theres no bloatware

    Hey,

you need to run the disk prep tool on the media direct cd, then reinstall vista, then instal media direct again.
