    Hey random question,

I'm a newb to the whole dell thing. Just ordered my first inspiron from them. Question i have is if i were to buy RAM from somewhere like newegg and throw it in, what does that do with my service warranty? Will that completely void it out? It seems like other pple have done work on their dells and dell support has still tried to help them, I was wondering if this was still the case and or if i should bite the bullet and buy the extra ram from dell to save my warranty?

It won't void your warranty. Although obviously the Dell warranty won't cover any RAM you add, either.

However, a lot of Dell models have one of the two RAM slots under the keyboard, so you need to remove the keyboard to access it. This isn't rocket science, but it's not as easy as just opening a panel on the bottom.

I'm just wondering, are you 100% sure about this? B/c i'll be installing RAM myself and would like to keep my warranty.
