I have a 2 year old Dell Inspiron E1705, core duo.

I understand Dell has come out with new models such as XPS but what exactly do I get when upgrading?
I currently have no problems with disk, RAM or CPU speed.

My only ongoing issue has been the keyboard falling apart.

are you buying or getting a replacement?

    1730's are nice
you can find 1710's in the outlet for around a grand, keyboard is the same though. you can get some decent video cards, but if you are satisfied with your laptop except the keyboard, but a few for 20 bucks apiece and save your money

If you have no problems with your current machine... there's no absolutely need to upgrade. If it's just your keyboard that's having problems, buy a new one off eBay and you're good to go...

I ended up fixing the keyboard. I don't see a huge 'jump' from Inspiron to XPS
