Well, I bought my 9300 a month ago, and after that, I hear about the Duo Core 9400/e1705. Well, I am wondering, can I upgrade my Pentium M 760 2.0ghz to a T2500 2.0ghz Duo Core processor? If so, what do I need to do?
EDIT: I forgot to mention. If I would have waited, the Duo Core version of my exact same laptop would have been $450 more. The upgrade should only be about $250.

You probably cannot do the upgrade. You need a new motherboard and cpu in the first place. However, I don't know if the motherboard would fit in the i9300 case because of the new layout of the usb ports on the back. If the ports are external from the board, you can do it. I don't think they are external.
Edit: I just looked on dell.com, and saw that the ports are on the board. You might could cut out the case, but I wouldn't do that.
Understand what I talking about? -
Not sure if Dell does offer a service to that extent. Also the motherboards would be different for the duo cores, or I read in notebooks they come as some sort of an extension to a motherbaord? Not too sure, I'm more desktop tech inclined, fairly new to laptops. Maybe some other readers have some input if Dell offers this.
That $250 you estimated, is that just for the processor? I havent' seen it sold anywhere online yet, where did you get that from? -
Metamorphical Good computer user
I don't think you can upgrade the CPUs on these things. =/

Anyway, The only difference between the 2 laptops are:
9300 2.0ghz M / e1705 2.0ghz Duo Core
9300 FSB 533MHz / e1705 FSB 667MHz
9300 6800 Go / e1705 7800 Go
Do you think it would have been worth the extra $450? -
You would be better off selling your 9300 on ebay, and buying a E1705.

In my opinion, that depends on how long you want to keep your laptop and your uses.
If you are a heavy gamer and want a laptop to last 3 or 4 years, then it would probably be best to go with dual core. With dual core, you are getting 2 processors instead of 1, and I believe that you get about a 40% or more increase in CPU (not 100% sure on that).
If you just surf the net, simple programs, watch movies, etc, then it probably won't be worth it right now. P-M 2.0ghz will get you buy for a couple of years.

Review of duo performance in various apps and gaming with benchmark comparison of athlon 64, centrino regular 2.0 and duo 2.0
It would seem games for the most part don't see a huge performance gain from the duo unless they're written to take advantage of the two cores. Also in most games single core outdoes the duo core by a small margin if not equal, due to the duo having slower cache latency.
All depends on how important it is to you if you can wait or if you want to future proof it. For now, I think the regular 2.0 should be fine for another two years at least.
