I have a one year old inspiron 1520 using XP. we just bought a new inspiron 1525 with Vista installed in it and i was hoping to upgrade the 1520 to Vista. A Vista install disk didnt come with the 1525. Is there a way i can pull the vista info off our 1525 to upgrade the 1520. Meaning upgrade without the actual disk?

Nope, and you need a Vista license to run Vista on your computer. Which means that unless you got XP by means of downgrading from Vista (may have been called Windows Vista Bonus when you bought it), you need to buy an XP license (whether upgrade or OEM or retail) for your 1520.

a vista cd should always come with your new ordered pc.. so you could ask for one with dell. you can't on the other hand put that vista license on your older pc as Apollo13 says and have to buy a new license for your old pc.
