After a month of anxious waiting for my XPS1530, I got some ugly news. Apparently they (UPS) misplaced the order. Talked to dell about it and the assistant confirmed that UPS has lost my order. I can't believe how useless they are. It was in the country and everything. What angered me the most is the fact they didn't have the courtesy to call me and tell me. The order has been over due for a few days and I had called them and requested they update me before half 4 (their closing time). They didn't and I actually had to call.

That sucks. Hopefully Dell will get you another one ASAP. Remember this is not Dell's fault, so be nice to them
-
Yes, it's lost in some UPS's drivers house.
-
of course. The lady was sweet and tried her best. UPS will collect some hell tommorow from me. She said that they will try to get one to me within the next 2 weeks (a week to build). Dell handled it very well and I got an email that I will get my order number tommorow.
What is suspicious is that I know someone working at customs and they said the laptop passed them. Which means it was lost in UPS's hands. Its a small country so the chances it was lost magically during transit are slim to none. After working with dell, I can tell you that losses are most of the time at the Miami branch of UPS. For it to reach here, in customs hands and lose, is very weird. -

All delivery carriers use part time during holiday season.
I had 3 digital cameras gone missing in one year. I never ordered expensive items during holiday season after. -
They could tell I was pissed, and said they will see what other courier services they can use.
-
Try to get it to your office or something.
For some reason, I never had problem when anything was delievered to my office. -
Dang. Very possibly it was stolen. I hope they find, though. Maybe it just got on the wrong truck and it will turn up this evening.
-
lol, they couldn't find it in their warehouse. And they confirm they lost it. Lucky I don't have to pay for the replacement and shipping. What frustrating is that I wanted to use it when I was in the field for my thesis which going on right now. Its the time wasted that pissing me off.
-
Yeah man that sucks. Sure they can give you another laptop with a few upgrades maybe, but no one can give you your time back.
-
You should demand Next Day Air AM for free from UPS. -
Yeah, it shows that shipping is still the weakest point in online commerce.
-
-
UPS has done this to me a few times :/
-
It happens when you have the shear volume of packages being moved by a company filled with $15 per hour labor, things will fall off the back of their trucks if you know what I mean. Dell laptops are a prime target because their boxes are clearly marked Dell with a logo of a laptop saying one is inside.
Whats cool though, is when you order enough laptops at once (aka a few hundred thousand dollars worth at a time) you get your own private shipping company -> your own semi just with your pallets of computers in there. They are chain locked doors and everything. Its a shame everyone cant get that kind of service.

nizzy is right... hundreds/thousands of boxes get loaded from Dell...whats surprising is that they are clearly marked. So i'm sure it's "lost".
I saw a documentary on UPS, they have one of the best sorting systems out there, it's VERY hard for package to be just lost or sent to the wrong destination, these sorting systems are very accurate.
They get lost once they get into human's hands. Some pissed of employee wouldn't mind it being hit off the sorting ramp if you know what i mean -
Well, the representitive said yesterday she would be placing an order for a replacement, but no new number yet. Will wait til tommorow, then i'll probably call. I didn't bother to call UPS today since I wanted to see what dell would do. This is so sickening, I feel like cancelling this while damn thing.
I do believe it wasn't "lost". oh and here is the latest update UPS (or Unlimited Pieces of **** as I refer to them now):
PORT OF SPAIN, TT 01/08/2008 4:50 P.M. SHIPMENT IN CUSTOMS.
Those retards haven't changed anything or even emailed. Apparently it still in customs. Funny, the supervisor at customs said it never came into customs....plot thickens.... -
-
lol......I think they mean customs in hell.
They never update their page. I'm sure I'll get the new machine and they will still have it in "customs" staus. -
Nah. They update it "sometimes". You will probably see it go from being in customs to being delivered to the residence.
-
lol, question is whose residence since the loss is confirmed by dell. when she checked the records, the dell representative wondered why I hadn't been updated since the 8th. Well hopefully today should bring some answers.
-
Update: No dell confirmation letter yet. Called UPS and asked them to explain what the hell happened and why they haven't updated their site. They said that the box arrived empty. And their system was kinda slow. Yeah, no **** sherlock!
-
Well its shipped, and its coming with DHL! Wohoo!
-
DHL seems cool though. -
Well it looks like it should be on track.
Surprisingly enough this hasn't soured my experience in dealing with dell. What I will do in the future is make sure they ship with DHL and not UPS.
I have a question: UPS said they ordered a replacement for me but dell talked to me separate and organized to ship with DHL. This should cancel the UPS replacement, right? -
It arrived in my country as is right now processing.
-
The wait is over.
ITS HERE! Yeay!
Ups ****ed up...
