My hp dv600t laptop keeps shutting off after about 20 minutes of use. It is the 6235nr model, purchased from bestbuy. I think it is due to the fan not coming on because since the problem started occurring 2 days ago, I have not heard the fan, or felt the cool air coming from the laptop. The laptop is only 3 months old, so I am very disappointed. Do I have to send this back to HP? Will they cover it under their 1 year warranty? About how long should I expect to be tihout the laptop? Thanks

I think the cooling system is failing, rise in temperature and the notebook shuts down due to overheating. I've had this issue when my roomie and I were trying to assemble a core2duo 1.8 ghz, and we didnt apply the thermal compound....same problem as yours. Maybe the thermal compound has dried off, but Its better to let the pros handle it before taking it apart within warranty period. Good luck.

bring to bestbuy and get a new one rather than let HP do the repair. Why does this thread in Dell...

The mods moved it to the wrong problem. I do not have a warranty on it from bestbuy, so would it sill be possible for them to replace t?
urgent help needed
