i was trying to open the other ram slot underneath the keyboard, popped out the top thing, unscrewed the keyboard, accessed the ram slot, put everything back together, now my laptop won't even boot up! when it boots, the screen remains dark (shut down) and the CAPS LOCK and SCROLL LOCK lights just blink. what's going on? then after awhile it shuts down HELLP!!!

    He means static charge.

You need to ground yourself before touching the computer.

Caps lock blinking is known to be caused by improper RAM seating in some (maybe all) DELL notebooks, if you already tried resetting, then remove the newly installed module and give it a try. If it works, then you can again try inserting the new module.

static charge is over-exaggerated. you may have bad ram. also, make sure it is compatible with your system.

Make sure it's correct ram. I once accidentally put in wrong ram made only for mac (it fits and looks exactly the same). I took it out and put a proper one, everything is working perfectly.

    You have a 1520 right?
If so, did you use PC2-5300 sticks?

Also, does the computer work if you put the old RAM back under the keyboard?

Low battery? Have you tried it plugged in?

Are you sure you inserted the RAM correctly?
