I bought a 700m off Ebay a couple of weeks ago, and in the auction description it said that the warranty was good until November 2005, and could be transfered to the buyer's name. After receiving the laptop, I emailed the seller asking how we go about transfering it to my name and he responded saying that he wasn't sure because he "never registered with Dell".

Anyone got any advice on how I go about getting it covered until the warranty supposedly expires in November? Should I just call up Dell? What info will I need? Hopefully just the serial number (and similar stuff) printed on the bottom of the laptop.

    Thanks for any help,
    Brent

There is a form you'll need to fill out. You'll need your service code number and express code (located on the bottom of your laptop). The form and directions about how to find the codes are located on here:

    http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kb/en/document?dn=1011182&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19#1ststep

    Hope this helps,
