I wanted to know if I can use a discount code after I already placed an order. I placed my order earlier today for the 1520, and was disappointed I didn't utilize the various coupons that are out there. I paid over $2,000.

If I were you I would re-order. Just say you want a different colour, and when re-ordering use the coupons.

Those are for desktop Inspirons, not notebooks and they expire in 40 minutes. There aren't any new codes that I know of.

I don't really know. But, unless you included 4GB of RAM, $2,000 for the 1520 is very expensive.

Once a month or so. If I were you I would cancel the order, unless that price included the 8600GT, 4GB's of RAM, a 160GB 7200RPM drive, High end C2D CPU etc. Check slickdeals.net now and then and you will find a good deal.

The only trouble with re-ordering is that they put at the back of the line. But since you just ordered, it wouldn't matter.

My honest advice is not to get a Dell right now.
They got really backed up with orders, so they jacked up the prices to decrease demand.

If you get one now, you'd probably overpay by 35-60%.

My advice would be to forget about getting a Dell. They are not a very trustworthy company anymore! I spent two months dealing with them, never getting the same story twice and always getting the run around! When I ordered my 1720 from them, I was assured that the video card was going to be a 8600gt GDDR3 card. I knew this did not jive with what I knew Dell was installing into their laptops, so I spoke with both a manager and their Tech Support. All the time being assured that the card was GDDR3 and even receiving emails from both a manager and a person at Tech Support. I called them at least weekly to verify this and never heard any different. Then, on the day before the laptop was to be shipped out, I must have spoken to the only honest person at Dell and he told me that there was "no way" that my laptop would have the card I described installed in it. He said that Dell only had the 8600gt GDDR2 cards and never had the 3's. When I told him that I had emails from Dell stating otherwise, he transferred me to the Escalations Dept. and told me to throw a fit. I was polite and explained the whole thing to them and they offered to take $300 off of the price of the laptop for the misinformation and trouble that was caused. This was done only after I told them that I had received emails from them on this issue and having to send them copies of those emails. I told them that I could no longer trust Dell and cancelled the order! I am sure some people got into some hot water over this and rightfully they should have!!

Anyhow, my advice is to go with another manufacturer or OEM until Dell can get their butts straightened out, if that ever happens!

Let me get this straight; you're complaining because some people didn't know what they were talking about, and they ONLY offered you $300 to make up for it?

Really, this is a case of Dell trying to sell a customer something that they had no way of producing! I really did not care what they offered for compensation, unless it was for $100 or free. The whole point is that they lied, not just one person or one time but for nearly two months and management was included. After all of the delays and lies, I felt that the $300 offer was just another slap in my face and insulting.

Well then you can slap me in the face anytime.

$300 is a lot more than most people get, you should have taken it.

I still would have had to pay almost $2K for the laptop and how could I rely on their Customer Service if something went wrong with the cp? With their deception and lies, Dell is not very reliable in my eyes. Just look at the customer base they have lost recently because of their tactics!

That is not to mention that with what I needed the laptop for, a GDDR2 card just would not have been able to handle the work load! Why should I spend $2K on something that would not work? For $2300 I could go with a Clevo/Sager NP5790/1 that would be more than capable and plus I would be dealing with a very reputable OEM if something was to happen. When I get my refund from Dell, I will be taking my business to "powernotebooks.com" and they have nothing short of an impeccable reputation!
