I got one of the new (black) Dell travel remotes for my Inspiron 1720 for Christmas, and it all works great except the three buttons the old Dell remotes didn't have (looks like MediaDirect, Windows Media Center and Power). These three buttons do nothing. Does anyone know how I can enable them?

My guess is that they are not mapped to anything, but I am having no success in trying to figure it out. I have only gotten as far as finding out the computer is seeing the buttons being pushed, but its like they each have the same scan code. I suspect they are mapped as a combination, like Ctrl+Alt+F4 or something? Anyone with any idea? Anyone with the new remote who is kind enough to share any registry entries relating to it?

    Merry Christmas, Sean

No help? No one has bought one of the new remotes? I installed the ITE IT8512 CIR Receiver Driver (Ver A07), but that made no difference.

Hello I have the exact same problem... the new Dell Travel Remote 2009, black and my Inspiron 1720, and here I have 4 buttons that are problematic/functionless, actually all the ones who weren't on the previous remote model which are, the ones you already listed + the "i" (information) button.

bump, same question, are those mappable on a not so recent inspiron? (not as recent as the remote itself!)
