I downloaded a EEE guide that explains how to use a USB drive for re-installing XP on a PC (such as a Mini 9) that doesn't have an optical drive. Are there any other hints or advice for undertaking this procedure? I didn't feel like spending $20+ for a USB/IDE adapter if I can make it work with a flash drive.

Well, what exactly does the guide say? I think it would be a pretty standard procedure.

That guide works with any netbook so you should be good for the Mini 9.

For installing anything other than the OS, you can just mount a virtual drive using a tool like daemon-tools and mount whatever ISO you have. Or install over the network by having the CD in another machine.
