    I have a Dell Vostro 1500 with 8600M GT.
Basically when I plug the laptop into a monitor/tv the screen resoultion on the laptop changes from 1440x900 to 1280x800, Also when I then unplug it from the monitor/tv and adjust the screen res back to 1440x900 the icons are all placed to the left of the screen which is annoying as I like having some on the side and some on the bottom.

Just wanted to know really if I can stop the screen resoultion on the laptop changing to 1280x800 when plugged into tv/monitor and stop the icons from moving?

    TIA

There's already a thread regarding resolutions changing when using an external monitor. Have you read that one yet?

I was thinking of a different, dual monitor thread. Anyway, you should take a look at Ultramon. That utility allows you to have different resolutions on different monitors.

The graphics card in your system will already handle isolated screen resolutions without third party software. You just need to tick the box in your Nvidia control panel that enables the functionality.
