    Hi all.

This is my first post here....I have a DELL INSPIRON 6400 (aka E1505 in some countries)....with the following configuration:

    INTEL C2D T7200 (2 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 4 MB L2 Cache)
    1 GB DDR2 RAM
    120 GB HD
    Windows XP Pro SP3
    Rest basic stuff.

Now I want to upgrade my RAM to 4 GB, and also I am upgrading my OS to VISTA Business 64-bit (to make full use of ram >3GB)....Dell website only offers drivers for VISTA 32-bit, which I suppose wont work with Vista 64-bit.

So I will be highly grateful to you all guys if you can please suggest me what to do, and from where I can get drivers for Vista 64 bit.

    Thanks in advance. :)

    Regards,

    INSPI6400

You will have to go directly to the component manufacturers website.

Dell dont make the components - you will have to go to the ATI site for a driver if you have an ATI graphics card, Sony if Sony make the optical drive etc.

    Ohh...sorry I misunderstood you...thanks for the info.

One more thing.....wld this work if I download Vista 64-bit drivers for other DELL laptops (for which they are available) provided the individual components are same as that of mine, and then install them in my Laptop???

Also I guess drivers for Vista Business 64-bit shouldnt be different than those of other Vista 64-bit variants, or are they???

Yes, that would work - I did that with my old Inspiron.

As long as its a Vista 64bit driver, it will work - the version of Vista is irrelevant from a driver point of view.
