Thought I'd pass on a positive story which might help anyone keen to get their new laptop a little quicker than usual.

After plumping a XPS 1530 after much research (specially on this site/forum), I was going to buy from a reputable eBay reseller due to their very quick delivery times as I'd heard Dell could take upwards of 2 weeks to deliver. However, I couldnt get the exact spec I wanted from the reseller - plus those Dell discount vouchers made the price difference negligible. I put together an order on the UK Home site, then rang up Dell CS. I said I'd like to confirm the order but I need the machine fast (my current lappy is on its last legs), so I could only order direct with Dell if they could prioritise my order.

I called on Sunday (8th June), and the woman said (after consulting her manager) they could guarantee the machine arriving by this Friday (13th!), so I took that but wasnt too confident (asked for them to confirm in writing, but the invoice that came thru said June 23rd!).

Anyhoo, checked order status yesterday - Phase 2, being built; sceptically checked the order status this morning and lo and behold it had already been despatched to the courier! Spoke to the courier shortly afterwards and I have a delivery slot for tomorrow morning - just 2 1/2 days from picking up the phone to (hopefully) the box arriving.

Super impressed with this and just shows what you can get if you ask :)

Looking forward to playing with the following tomorrow:

    XPS M1530 CORE 2 DUO T8300 2.40GHz,800,3M 210-20596

Have to admit, I was impressed by them. Had a problem with the credit card and it ended up with dell having to cancel the order. Coupon and offers were now expired and would cost alot more to get it the day after, but after contacting them (2nd time, first person was useless) they gave me the exact same price. Waiting for it to arrive atm

I ordered on the 10th, had the same EDD and was stuck in pre-production as well. Until I phoned up to query a few things and now 'suddenly' it has jumped to dispatched. :D

My order stayed in 2, pre-production for nearly 2 weeks and it's suddenly dispatched!
I won't trust the whole order status thing now, but I'm still happy that I'm getting the laptop slightly earlier than I thought.

The WWI website that I found was as basic as they come. No tracking section at all.

Well the status suddenly changed to Phase 3: Production today however the EDD is 03/07/08

I think I will get it maybe in the coming mid week.

I ordered my last DELL XPS1530 in march this year and it was delivered to my room on the 3rd day of ordering it online. Now thas a service which is about justifiable for that £60 price they charge!

Mine is shipped, but I can't get the service tag to work so I don't know my system config. Am I entering the wrong code or something?
