I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 purchased in 2005, running Windows XP SP3. Just recently my video screen started turning off after a few minutes from logging in. I have tried using the function key along with thr F8 button, but it does not seem to work.

Has anyone had similar problems and what fixed the problem.

    Thanks :( :(

If you hold a flashlight to the screen, can you faintly see it?
Before this, had you noticed a red or orange tint to the screen when you first turned it on for any amount of time?

No I can not see anything. The moniter turns off after a few seconds. I have hooked up a monitor and and can work from it. I can switch back to my screeen after a few seconds, however the screen turns off after about 30 seconds and I have to use the function F8 button to switch to thew monitor.

I know it looks like it's totally off, hold a flashlight up and see if you can faintly see something.
If not, it's a bad screen.

    80% chance bad power inverter
    20% chance bad screen

Just pick up an inverter on ebay, they're usually like 15 bucks.
