I currently own the E1705 with the GS7900 - I want to know what options I have for video out on a TV. I've tried S-video out to Video in on the TV and tried to use the Fn + F8...Does that only work for the VGA output? Thanks in advance!

that has worked for me. I have an e1505 with the x1400, and all i have to do is connect the S-video out to a TV, and then switch the monitor modes using Fn + F8 and the image appears on the screen.

was that S-Video in on the tv? or just composit video in on the tv? Cant mix minor details like that. ;)

Otherwise yea, thats genraly how its done. Usually it has 4 modes, lcd, lcd/monitor, monitor, and then tv out (this is how it was on my toshiba, havnt hooked up my dell yet). I have heard you can do dual desktops using tv out though.

Also make sure that your tv is set for S-Video. My tv has Component,S-video, AV and pc option. When I am using my desktop I must input PC on my TV when I use my Laptop I must input s-video

you should buy a special adapter for dell laptop , b./c they 're built with a special 7 pin S-video port. Search on ebay or some cables website, they have those. I haven't tried yet but i have an adapter VGA to VIDEO RCA. SOme people @ dell's website forum says that the S-video 7 pin adapter works.

I left the S-Video out of the second video because I am actually using a S-video to RCA/AV adapter. Also, I need to know what DVI cables I should look for? (i.e is it male or female from the DELL to the TV) Haven't used DVI cables before, so please excuse the noobness :)
