I am using a D830 with an Intel 4965AGN NIC loaded with vista business.

I loaded Virtual PC 2007 and installed XP Pro. No matter what I do the VP loads the nic as an Intel 21140-based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter (Generic).

I made sure that the 4965AGN is the only NIC selected in the VP network settings. I also checked that the share with virtual pc was activated in the nic properties. I also disabled sharing for the LAN nic and bluetooth. I updated the Vista drivers and tried to load the latest XP 4965AGN drivers in VP. The auto install will not work so I manually loaded the drivers but no joy. PLEASE HELP!!!

Virtual PC emulates an older NIC card (a DEC 21140 according to the wikipedia). So the driver you need inside your Virtual PC is the one for the emulated card, not the physical card on your computer.

It's the same deal as with the video card. Inside Virtual PC you use video drivers for an old S3 Trio, not the Geforce 8600M GT (or whatever card is physically in your computer).

Okay thanks, that explains why it is loading those drivers but it is emul a lan card instead of a wifi. Dose anyone know how to get the wifi to work?

It is emulating a lan card yes, but that "virtual" lan card is just a pass through to your real hardware NIC which in this case is your wifi card. As long as you have the wifi configured properly the Virtual NIC will work properly as well.
