I am gonna visit the USA and will buy my dell laptop from a friend ( he will buy the dell for me)over there and take it back home to Europe.

Will there be any problems when I will leave the USA with my dell ? (will they ask me if I had my dell with me when I came to the USA or if I bought it in the USA )

If you take it home in the packaging it came in, then I would expect them to ask you about it and you'd have to pay the appropriate duty on the item.

However, if you take it out of the packaging, put it in a notebook bag or backpack then they'll likely say nothing. I take my notebooks to the US / France / Germany all the time for work, and never get asked anything (except to take it out of the bag and put it through the scanner at the airport).

Nobody cares, just don't transport it in its box.

Best thing to do is take a laptop backpack with you as your carry on luggage, and put your laptop in it for the journey back. It is highly unlikely they will say anything then.

Outside of any taxes related to the export of the product, you will need to have Dell transfer the warranty to the country its going to. They dont charge for it, but it will make life much easier if you get it done before hand. I know the ownership transfer for in the Us is a web based page, but I think the one for ownership outside the US has to be done by a Dell person. Maybe call up customer service and ask.
