I will (hopefully) be receiving my new laptop soon. I have a few questions that might be more properly addressed in other forums, so please feel free to direct me there. However, I've spent a lot of time reading over these Dell forums and for some reason I feel like I would have better luck getting quick and valid responses here. So here goes:
SO sorry for all the questions, but they just keep coming as I was typing. Thanks in advance for any help!!!!!
- With my system only having 3GB RAM, is it even possible, or worth it, to install Vista 64-bit?
- If so, will I be able to do so using the disc provided by Dell (SP1, Home Premium Edition)?
- Another if so: I looked at Dell's Driver page last night and noticed that 32-bit had approx. 35 driver downloads available, while 64-bit had approx. 25. Does anyone know what drivers may be "missing"? (I just tried looking for myself now, but Support.Dell.com appears to be down??)
- Next question: I plan to follow the Vista Reformat/Bloatware Removal Guide. From what I understand, Media Direct 4.0, which ships with the Studios, no longer boots separately from Windows. That being the case, can I just skip straight to the Vista disc?
- And lastly (finally), is the ACHI driver provided on the Dell driver disc? Or do I need to download it (and extract) from their website before proceeding?

Thank you!!!!
Now here's to hoping it gets here soon (supposed to ship Thurs. but still in "build" stage).
