Every driver installed with Vista (32-bit) except my Video Driver (odd), 5n1 card reader and touchpad driver (although it still worked mins some software features).

Downloaded the drivers i needed from Dell (XP drivers) and they installed fine.

Been running it a couple of days now.

Thought i would just post this info out there in case anyone else was wondering about it.

I will report any errors or issues i come up on.

System specs: core duo 1.66ghz, 2x512, bluetooth, 60gb sata.

Haven't seen a whole lot of threads about it.

I was brave enough to format my entire HDD, its the ONLY operating system i have installed... Its my primary.

**A side note, i'm also running the Beta Office 2007 as well.
**Also attached a screen shot for those who care.

That's good to hear! Are you running with Aero, or just the default interface? How smooth does it run vs XP?

I ran it with the Aero and it runs pretty good. I can drag a little bit it seems, mostly when your doing "stuff."

I put it back to classic look not b/c it was bad or anything, i just prefer it instead.

So what are the benefits of running Vista? Is it that much better than XP? How?

you could have downloaded MS Virtual PC instead of wiping out your PC.

Vista is great but i will be in no rush ot buy it when it comes out. For me the pros and cons were:
    pros: excellent UI
    :more security
    : support for 3d applications
:it opens files and stuff much faster then XP
cons: its a resource hog, a small price to pay!

I have tried several times and was completely unsuccessful in installing Beta 2 in Virtual PC. But I am dual-booting Vista right now, and it runs completely well. Most Dell drivers work, but oddly enough, I had to use Xtreme-G Mobile Forceware drivers cause the Dell ones wouldn't install. Nor would nVidia's beta drivers for Vista.

IMO, Vista will become a much better OS than XP, but right now I don't think it's stable enough to run as a primary OS. And unless you have at least 1GB of RAM, I would stay away from Vista. Right now, I don't see any advantages to running Vista and not XP, but I'll probably switch over to it as my primary OS with RC1. I'm just using Beta 2 to get used to it right now. A lot of things are very different.

Yes, it's good news for starter, but for how long?, that will be my question. Initial release of XP was crap but it ran really fast. But after couple of heavy Service Packs, it got stable, but price we paid was heavy resources.

I'm also dual booting XP Pro and Vista Beta 2. So far it seems to run smooth on E1505. :D

cool, nice to see some other people in the mix.

Also i think this "initial" comment doesn't apply anymore. Windows XP "release" was 6 years ago, i think this OS will have a much better "release" and fewer problems than XP did.

But of course this OS is pushing all the new hardware as well....just like XP in a way...

I (and/or we) will be pushing the newest CPU's RAM and chipsets...unlike most of the public in my opinion.

I think i will upgrade to it right away when it is released.

I don't have a wireless network set up in my house. I'll test it if I ever find a spot to use it. :)

Yes. On my M1710, the Intel 3945 sometimes works, the "connected/disconnected" status is sometimes correct, but worse is that the whole wireless system stops responding after some time. Network center is so slow, it might as well be frozen up. If I disable and re-enable the 3945, it comes back, but then all the screw-ups start happening again.

I haven't tried a Dell 1390 yet (I think I tried, but there were no drivers).
