I am receiving my M2010 today, very very excited but I had a question for everyone here if any of you as the time to answer I would greatly appreciate your advice.

I read about a couple of people who clean install Vista right away as soon as their new laptops arrive. I think this might sound like a good idea in orders for me to get rid of the junk Dell packages with every computer they ship.

I am, however, a little concerned since I am still quiet unsure what would be the best option as far as reinstalling drivers. And what the best place to obtain them be.

Does anyone think I should just go ahead and do a clean install of Vista? Or is it really unnecessary way to clean up the PC.

    THNAK YOU

IF your notebook was ordered with Vista pre-installed, then the OEM Vista disks will have all the drivers you need to get back and running without any extra work.

Thank you for the answer. So, is clean install a recommended procedure then. How much mem is it supposed to free up, as far as RAM and physical?

It won't free a lot of ram but definitely boost the performance of your machine

I'm expecting my M1210 today too (in about 6 hrs) :D ! Finally, almost 2 weeks after orderingÂ….. I'm also going to do a clean reinstallation. Anyways I already downloaded Vista retail DVD so even if the bundled DVD doesn't work or if there is no bundled DVD (restore partition) doesn't really matter :p

I have an E1505 coming in a week or two and I also am debating wether or not to preform a clean instal of vista to get rid of all the extra dell ****. Two things:

    1. Will my computer come with re-instalation cds of vista home premium? And how do preform the install.

    2. Has anyone done this? How did it go? Office CD's come with the laptop two or do u need to get those from dell?

    Thanks

I have not had the time to look thoroughly at the CDs that came with the system. But the only Vista related disc that came with mine says "VIST LIVE UPGRADE" - So I am assuming it is an upgrade utility.
