    Ordered an xps 1530 with 4 gb. i was thinking of getting a 4 gb SD card for ready boost. will it help at al or just a waste of money?

    It is a waste of money and a waste of time. It's mainly for people who have less than or equal to a Gig of RAM then maybe. I see no performance boost in my 1720 machine even with 4GB RAM installed. There are many threads about this too, so expect the same answer - It's pointless for users with 3 - 4GB RAM.
