Since the search function seems to be messed up, can u help me out on this. Someone on here had posted a real long guide on some great Vista tweaks. Anyone have the link for this? Thanks!

Search is working for me, but am not sure which guide you're looking to find (I don't use Vista and haven't read the thread). This, perhaps?

Edit: pixielot, that's probably it; nice quick work.

Vista doesn't need tweaking out of the box as XP did. I reinstalled Vista and kept the default settings and so far I don't see any issues or performance problems!

In this forum, I see more problems from people who have tweaked their Vista installation.

That seems like a genuinely sincere comment, sinstoic. I'm glad for your sake that you've had such good luck with Vista, and wish everyone else using it were so fortunate.

Personally I've tweaked Vista a lot not because I had problems per se, but because I was "optimizing" to increase my productivity; I just can't work when I'm always having to fight my OS, whether it's agonizingly long shutdowns or UAC announcements every time a move a file, complete with the dark screen and full fanfare.

The only thing in Vista for me is the bootup time taking around 30 seconds or so.... I tried various optimizations but it doesnt seem to improve this.... :(

I've cut down the services by half or so...

Also, blackviper.com has some useful Vista tweaks. But do your research on these because not all the tweaks listed will be useful for you.
