Hello everyone, have a very bad situation here. My friend has an Inspiron E1450 with Vista Home Premium 32bit which is stuck in an infinite update loop. When it boots it goes to update stage 3 of 3: 94%... which it sits there for a while then reboots and repeats this pattern. We have tried booting from reinstall DVD and using a restore point but when it reboots it repeats the install process which then allows the option to choose a fix windows option. If it boots from the HDD after choosing the restore point option it just resumes the infinite update loop.
Are there any simple fixes for this?

I had this happening on my cousin's laptop. I booted up off the Vista CD/DVD and chose a restore point.... just make sure you choose one prior to when the updates were installed. keep going back one further until the issue goes away upon reboot.

Thanks for the help. Recovery took a few minutes and the machine is back up and running.
