Can anyone please explain the RAM showing as 3.5 when it is actually 4.0. I ws told by Dell that it is due to Vista and a Microsoft article supported that. But I stll do not understand if I have access to 4 or if I should have just gotten 3 due to Vista?

32 bit operating systems can only address around 3.5GB (depending on other memory allocations). To utilise more than that, ie the full 4GB, you'll need a 64 bit OS.
