My E1405/640m has drivers for everything (aside from the GMA 950 drivers, but I'm using the drivers from an older build ... little buggy here and there, but glass and animation is superb.

    My question ...

Is anyone else having the issue with Sleep/Hibernate on these machines ? every Time I sleep or hibernate the machine "seems" to wake up ... displays my desktop as left ... mouse moves ... cannot "do" anything ... no CTRL+ALT+DEL ... I have to restart by removing battery.

    Anyone have a suggestion ?

the only suggestion I have is probably one you dont want to hear, stay with xp until vista sp1 is released, if your dying for "glass" there are a few vista makeover programs out there, this is one of the better ones,

though I got bored with it after an hour or so, I could care less about the look of it, I'm looking forward to better security, stability, and the stricter rules for dx10 hardware, wich alas means nothing for current notebooks

Turn off sleep/hibernate in power management. Are you running beta 2? I've got beta 2 dual booting on my 6400 and I haven't come across any problems. (Other than the huge amount of RAM vista uses. Plus video playback uses a lot of the processor for some reason. 60% in vista, 20% in XP.) Microsoft will release fixes as time goes. Oh maybe check power management in the BIOS. Set it to the default. If it's at the default set it to something else.

I would suggest not removing the battery like that. Try simply pressing and holding the power button on the laptop until it turns off. It's a little safer than simply removing the battery.

The incompatible drivers are most likely the reason for sleep/hibernate not working. You can get more details through the link below.
