finally I recieved my Inspiron 1720..its been in repair for over 2 weeks...thats a seperate story.

Right now i finally have the laptop I have decided to reinstall Vista. On my Hard Drive it says 139gb total. Recovery is 10gb. Total is 149gb. I ordered 160gb where is the other 10gb?

And I have never install XP/Vista or any OS ever. So I am new. I have opened thisthread so that I could be guided throughout the complete installtion process including drivers etc.

I have all the CDs with me from Dell. Do I need a complete reinstall or is it better to just remove the bloatware software instead by uninstalling and if uninstalling is better then does anyone know what software I should be removing?

Since you've never installed any OS before I'd say to just remove the bloat -- unless you're having other issues with your current Vista install.

If you want to try a clean install, there are instructions here
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=157838
and in other threads as well.

You will never see the total amount on a hard drive... my 80 gb drive only shows 76... my 320 only shows 297...
