I have a problem, Vista media player won't play Blu-Ray movies on xps1530 I have tried a couple of different discs & it doesn't get any further than the menu stage (I'm in the UK & these are UK discs).
Does anyone have any ideas as to what the cure is. Does it sound like a familiar problem with an easy solution that I may be able to fix myself without the need to contact Dell.
    Thanks.

Agreed, Windows media player is very selective on which to play, and as is Vista media player. Either google up some codecs for blu-ray for vista media player, or find a video player that supports blu-ray.

Windows Media Player 11 does not support Blu-Ray playback, use the included program (can't remember what it is exactly)...

I see in your signature oyu have the slot loading bluray drive on your xps 1530, how well does mediadirect work for blu ray play back. Also, have you hooked your laptop up to a hdtv with hdmi for blu ray play back? If so, does it send out a 1080P signal?

    Thanks
