I was wondering, if I were to upgrade in the future then will my XP Professional OEM Disc will be obsolete? Meaning I cannot reinstall XP if I wanted to go back and/or I cannot install XP on another partition as long as Vista is on the HDD?

Question 2: If I want to have a clean installation, would I really need to wipe out my HDD? I need to double install Vista for the clean install, right? Later in the future, if I want to reformat my HDD, I would need to repeat the instruction above to have a clean install?

Thanks and sorry - I am confused and curious about the upgrade disc.

Upgrading to windows vista will invalidate your XP key if you are doing upgrade from XP itself. If you are just using vista DVD and install it without key first and then with your key after that (as you said) you can reinstall XP back.

Yes you got to repeat the process. Hope this answers your questions :) .
