    Calling Inspiron heads! When not using headphones, what volume level do you normally keep it?

    what i do is turn the volume all the way down and then click it back up once. works fine for me unless im in a loud environment using my laptop, which is rare.

    If i'm typing on my laptop, I normally have it up very loud -- at least half way. I only do that because the speakers get blocked either by my blanket or by my arms, so i have to adjust my sound for it.

    Do you think 90% would be to high on a 6000?

    My rule is never turn it up to loud-usually sound quality suffers at higher levels anyway. 90% sounds a bit much to me.

    To be honest, and this is just my opinion, I normally have mine all the way up. Like I said, i only do that because I block my speakers all the time. I've had my laptop for almost a year now and haven't had any problems with the speakers.

    It also depends on what software you are using. Like with iTunes, you can adjust the sound there in addition to adjusting the sound on your laptop. Plus you can adjust the volume settings in the control panel, so mine 80% might not be the same volume that your 80% is.

    What software are you using?

    I use ITune, Windows Media Player, various streaming windows that suck anyways so I don't care about them. With Mp3s quality can vary from song to song. Same with different CDs I pop in the drive. So I crank up at different times. I never killed the ones in my Toshiba. I had that for about 2 and a half years. I probably should be so worried about this. Am I more curious? I'm just worried I'll accidently reach the breaking point.

    Well, I don't use my speakers much. When I do though, I usually have 75%main/75%wave.

    I've had my dell for over a year now, and haven't had any problems with the speakers. I listen to MP3's about 3-7 hours everyday on it.

    I have all the volume settings set to full, and iTunes can vary. Like you said, it varies from mp3 to mp3, plus it varies from software to software, so I normally leave the software controls at 50% so i don't have to change my actual volume all the time.

    I would just play around with the settings and try to find what is comfortable for you, but at the lowest setting possible -- just as a precaution. I've never seen anyone on here with blown speakers and make a post about their speakers going, so I don't think it is a common issue with dell.

    Amen brothers and sisters. Thanks for the help.

    Btw let me make a correction to this since I can't get the edit button to work on it now because my typo bothers me.

    should= Shouldn't*

    LOL, its okay. I knew what you meant. I make typos all the time, and it also drives me crazy. After awhile, you just begin to ignore it.

    That's weird that the edit button wasn't working.

    I was guessing because the post was from last night. I just noticed it looking down threw this thread and thought,"Oh greeze I've finally noticed that now?" I make typos alot. Its funny but my typing and spelling seem to of gotten worse over time, rather than better.
