I have googled this, and come up with nothing. All I want to do is get rid of the little display that shows what the volume level is, but there isn't any advice on how to do that. Anyone know or have any ideas? I really don't like the way it looks, and I found a really cool utility that would replace that one, but instead, both pop up at the same time...

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I'm running Vista on a Studio XPS 1640.

It's a part of the Dell QuickSet/ControlPoint software. Look around. I don't know if there's actually a way to disable the notification on it's own, but at the very least, uninstalling the QuickSet/ControlPoint stuff should do the trick. You'll lose all the other QuickSet/ControlPoint features too, though.

Then you should reinstall it and see if there's a function by which you can disable just the notifications. If not, there's not much you can do... maybe find a separate utility to eject? I wouldn't know if such a thing exists.

In Control Point those notifications can be disabled.
