Hi,
I am really interested in getting a Dell Vostra 1500 but I do not have a business, is this a problem or can I just order one, I am mainly concerned with the warranty, would not having a business invalidate it ?
Also, is Vista Business any good for home use or should I go for XP Pro ?
Thanks in advance

They "know" that most people ordering them do not have a business. They are just marketed that way. The easiest way to order one is online and for the business name just put your first name. (How do they know you aren't self employed?)
As for the warranty, it is not an issue.
As for Vista Business, I actually like the features it has better than Vista Home Premium. -
You can order it without having a buisness
-
And remember that the Vostro and Inspiron lines are essentially the same...
-
Well, now that dell has replaced the 1520 with a less powerful 1525, and will soon repeat the same with the 1420, the vostros look more attractive due to the dedicated video card options.
-
If you order over the phone, just tell them you are getting ready to start your own business
-
Or give them a completely bogus/random business name, they really don't care.
-
If you do this, however, you better damn remember it because they DO ask to verify the business name when you call for a warranty part.

'Dell sucks Ltd' thats a company name right?? Oh how I wonder what funny names people have given and the Indian Reps not getting it.
If you order online it simply has a box asking to put your company name in so no problem, the Vostro is a great choice seeing as Dell are dumbing down the 1520 and 1525 so as to push their XPS notebooks. -
Well, I decided to take the plunge and I have just placed an order for one, came out at £600, spec can be seen in my signature. I think it is pretty good for the money, in fact its very good

That IS a really good deal for the money. Great snag on that system! Hope you like it!
