I would like to connect my Vostro to a TV that has only a composite video-in port. I have a S-Video to composite cable, but that doesn't work. I'm thinking of using the VGA port on the laptop to connect to the TV. Are there any VGA to composite cable available, or do I need to buy some expensive converter? I don't want to gamble on some generic cable. Also, the TV does not have any settings feature thru which I can specify the type of input, such as S-Video or VGA. Would that be a problem? I'm looking for a solution as simple as just plugging in a cable and pressing Fn+F8, but twiddling with settings isn't an issue.

I've used an S-Video to composite before so it does work. Are you changing the inputs on your TV to the correct one?

Yes, and I've tried it on two different TVs, but it doesn't work.
