    Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had received/ordered a Vostro 1000 yet? I know it is the basic notebook offering from Dell, but my gf's Mom is looking to get a laptop to replace her ancient Compaq (really old...), and is looking for something basic for checking e-mail, typing up reports, etc.

Also, if anyone knows, in general, how does the Mobile AMD Sempron 3500+ Processor handle applications that I mentioned above? I do not have any experience with AMD at all, so I am curious how it would hold up. I know it's also the basic, low-end CPU, but she is looking for basic applications....is it possible the Sempron is TOO basic?

    Please advise,

    Thanks!

    PaulyRags :)

A sempron? I mean they aren't great but they get the job done at the cheap price.
