If so, I hope they make it thinner than the 1400.

Any word on specs? If it's similar to the Vostro 1400, it would make a very nice replacement for the XPS 1210 especially if it offered the 8400GS.

Here is what I came up with trying to match the width of the DVD Rom drive, USB ports and VGA port (some of the standard components). Resized the image of M1210 to match widths of those components as accurately as I could (down to a single pixel); but given the very low resolution of Vostro 1200, the comparison is not very accurate.

However in general, I think the thickness is very close to that of M1210.

the keyboard does not look like a 12". It looks more like to me that its an updated 1400/1420. maybe the next revision of them.

This design looks stupid in my opinion. see how the front slopes up so much? make that space all filled with a battery! the battery on this looks to be 3 cells at most currently but it could be 9 cells without stick out if they stick it up front.

What do you mean ? That looks exactly like M1210's keyboard layout.
Besides, considering size of the DVD drive in proportion to the size of casing, that is definitely NOT a 14". Not to mention the obvious clue in it's name: Vostro 1200

No where does it say its a vostro 1200, that was just what someone on the forum wrote. It doesn't say it anywhere on any of the pictures.

i think it's safe to conclude it's 12" judging by the pictures (size of dvd/laptop ratio).

Ok, but by looking at the relative sizes of the touch pad, border around the screen and other components , that sure looks to me as a 12” (if not a 13”). Besides, I see no reason for DELL to release another chassis for 14” or 15” series (unless they want to make it thinner and sleek, which is certainly not the case here  ).

Well if the price is right, it would make a nice alternative to all the pricey 12" notebooks on the market.
