Hi.
I've seen a few posts with people wanting to know what the Vostro 1200 really looks like besides the photos on Dell's site.
Will post a user review soon.

That's a sweet little machine!!!
-
Anyone has clues on a North America release date ?
-
Wow, that's kinda cool. Wouldn't it be nice if my 1500 had a fingerprint reader.
Is it heavy? I mean, of course it's a 12" notebook, but it looks sort of bulky for an "ultraportable" [is it?]. Like how the 1500 is big and heavy for a 15" laptop.
*waiting for review* -
Thanks for the pics - where do you live BTW? When did you order and when was it delivered?
I ordered this on 20/12 and still waiting. [India] -

I want one! But the Screen is too small for me.. 1280x800 right?
Really thick though... I'll stay with my 1520. -

Integrated Intel graphics
1280 x 800 TrueLife display

Ordered Jan 2.
Delivered Jan 10.
I live in Australia by the way -
They should have removed the cd drive and made it thinner.
-
Look at the bottom left of the keyboard and tell me what's wrong
-
Whats wrong with it?
Yeah I guess they could have made it without the DVD drive but its still pretty small and just weighed it. Only 2.135kg (4.7 pounds). -
Nothing that cant be fixed with bit of hackin, I hope ;P
Its even bigger than the control key WTF!
(FN and control key should be switched) -
Oh yeah. It gets a little bit annoying when I am doing key combinations like Ctrl-Shift-Esc because I press the Fn button.
-
How is the keyboard? It looks a bit more "solid" than the one on the 1500 and 1400.
I like the touch media buttons and fingerprint reader; not a fan of that massive frame around the screen, though. Obviously it's there to create more space for components inside the base, but it makes the top of the laptop look a bit cheaper than it should. -
The keyboard is quite good. I have had a little bit of trouble when using the period and comma because they are quite small.
-
Thanks a lot for posting those pictures. =)
Seems to me that the keyboard isn't a full size one. Just a question to the people owning this machine, do you think it's any harder to use than a regular keyboard? It looks pretty ok apart from that =)
If anyone wants to post a mini review about this machine, i'm sure it'd be appreciated - there aren't any to be found (as far as i could see) -
-
The letter part of the keyboard is the same size as any other notebook.
A review would be nice, Im pretty much waiting on user feedback and availability to decide if i ll order one for myself. -
the keyboard looks just like a 700m which was terrible!!! Why in God's name they decide to put the most used key (the period) 1/2 size seems so idiotic, I was pumped to get one until I saw that!

I ordered this laptop on the 22nd and it should be at my door according to Dell tracking on the 1st of Feb. Used to have a Inspiron 1501 but sold it to buy the Vostro 1200, I really hated the size of the Inspiron.
If anyone is interested in more pictures of the Vostro I will take some high res photos as soon as it comes out of the box. I look forward to the 1st of feb! -
I've just received my vostro 1200 yesterday.
Appearance-wise it is the same as the pics on the 1st page. However take note that the 6-cell battery "sticks" out from the back. There's a size of like 6"x0.5"x0.5" of plastic jutting out from the back. Maybe a 4 cell batt wouldn't have this problem. Something to consider if you are very particular about "looks"
The specs I got are as follows:
Core 2 duo 7250
2G ram
intel x3100 graphics
2mp webcam and fingerprint reader
12" 1200x800 with truelife screen
wifi a/b/g/n
vista business
this baby is quite fast considering its on vista. I don't do gaming on my laptops as basically i use it for work which is mostly microsoft office, acrobat, dreamweaver, photoshop and surfing.
I've yet to test the N mode wifi as my N router is only coming next week.
The complains are as what a few users have stated. I too keep pressing the function key when i need to press ctrl. The "." IS SMALL.... but after a while u get used to it.
What I REALLY liked is that the indicator lights are in BLUE!!! hahahahaha. even the media buttons light up in blue when the laptop is on. cool.
Batt wise, I've been running it slightly pass 2hrs with word/excel and web browsing, msn and batt level is at 49%. Will do more trials.
Overall very satisfied with the setup.Cheers!!

Well umm, I preferds my 1500 design...seriously. This design just looks old-fashioned to me and the battery coming out of it doesn't quite help it. But yeah, the fingerprint and the bottoms are definitely a nice touch.
