Vostro 1310
=========
Intel® Core 2 Duo T5670 (1.8GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
13.3" WXGA LCD Display w/TrueLife
2GB DDR2 at 667MHz
250GB 5400RPM SATA HDD
8X DVD+/-RW
Intel GMA X3100 Grahpics card
Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Wi-Fi Mini Card
Price in US (dell.com): $889
Prince in Canada (dell.ca): $699
So, for exact same configuration, there's a difference of $190.![]()
Am I missing something?
-
You are missing that the Canadian configuration is with a instant $240 off coupon, and the US is regular price. So if you want to make *everything* equal and compare, the US one is actually $50 cheaper than the Canadian.
-
not really cheaper if you consider exchange rates
-
It doesn't matter whether its an instant coupon or anything else that saves you $200. At the end of the day, you paid $200 less for the *SAME* configuration. So, you got the *SAME* machine $200 cheaper.
Anyone agrees? -
What does it matter? Countries are different and things cost different in them.
-
Dell comes up with promotions, either automatic instant savings or coupons, for all their laptops all the time. There just happens to be a discount at dell.ca and not dell.com at the moment.
Nobody ever buys dell stuff at "regular" price anyways. -
You do realize that the Canadian dollar and American dollar are basically equal, dont you?
Recently, the Canadian dollar was actually worth more than the American dollar.
Not sure how you figure exchange rates make a difference -
Yep ! Dell.ca has good offers on the vostro ! u can get up tp 649 off of a vostro 1510 ! ....
-
But dell.ca has no outlet!
-
Haha, beat me to it Jusin. Many people in the states still think the exchange rate is like it was decades ago when it was a 2:1 in favour of the states when just recently $1 CAN was worth $1.10 American. As of now they are just equal, but that will change
.
-
Really!?! Madness! .... All seriousness aside, all I am saying is that you said that everything was quote "exact same" that was misleading because it wasn't exact same. Your shock was in that a machine built in the states would be cheaper Canada, when in actuality it was just a rare circumstance that Canada had a deal US didn't. Base models are still cheaper in the US, and I am confident that very shortly the US will have a better deal than that.
If you would like I could point out problem a dozen computers that are the "*!-SAME-*!" configuration but are plenty cheaper in the US due to coupon differences, but I wont because that's not a fair comparison and don't want to point out the painfully obvious
.
Also, why are you giving me guff after I answered your question for you? Because if this was clear to you before, then this thread is completely pointless.
