    Hi guys.

Have anyone tried to upgrade the 8400gs card to a 8600? I know that i could upgrade RAM and Processor, but i have no idea about doing the same with the video card ...

In general, laptop GPUs are not upgradeable. Dell uses upgradeable parts, but they are designed and meant only for Dell laptops. So if Dell does not release a 8600 option for the 1400, it is safe to assume you will not be able to upgrade.

Looks like GPU on 1420 is soldered on like M1330 which means it cannot be upgraded unless Dell comes up with new mobo w/ new GPU.

You are out of luck. If you have that system, just return it for a good one.

Not soldered. Like Greg said, proprietary connection.

I think that the 1400 is a good one... just the video card isn't "that" good.
Anyway, here in Brazil, Dell was the best choice for the price i could pay ...

Hmn I didn't see any GPU assembly on service manual.

Wouldn't there be GPU assembly like bigger models if it is replaceable part?
