    Hi,

I don't know how to change the maximum amount of memory accessible by the X3100 on this Vostro 1400.

My BIOS is the latest (revision A03). BIOS reports the video memory as 8MB. The screen it is on is an "unchangeable value" one, so I can't change it. I thought the max amount of memory the X3100 can access is 256MB?

It will use as much as it needs at any given moment. It is variable.

Then the verdict is in: X3100 performance sucks with Warcraft III (~25FPS, latest drivers, 2GB RAM system). That's with low details at 640x480x16 !!!

This makes no sense, considering the following review says WCIII runs "beautifully" at max settings. What's even more funny is his graphics index score is only 3.0, while mine is 3.4. I'll just assume this guy considers 15FPS "beautiful".

The X3100 wasn't meant for any serious gaming. Of all the integrated cards those by Nvidia and ATI were the best. A while ago there were some nice reviews of all integrated cards here. You're always better off with a discrete card, even if it is a 8400M GS or a HD 2300.

But it seems still strange to me. Warcraft should work flawlessly on the X3100, because even the GMA950 runs Warcraft very well.

something is wrong for sure, that card can even run ut2004(not best settings obviously), so warcraft 3 shouldn't be a problem.

I have the latest drivers installed (7.14.10.1409), with the system set to max CPU ("High performance" power setting).

    specs:
    1.6GHz Core 2
    2GB RAM
    Vista Business
