I love everrything about my new vostro 1400... except that this is what happens to my lcd panel when i'm in a dark room!

This is not my photo, but this represent my current issue with my vostro 1400

What I ordered was 1280 x 800 WXGA panel with True Life (glossy). Is it suppose to be like this both for glossy and matte?

if it's that bad you can probably get it replaced. if it's not that bad.. it's normal, all lcds have light leakage

i may be too anal about it because my old vaio doesn't do that light leakage is very minimal.

You went from a Vaio (probably sony screen) to a dell. That's your problem right there.

Almost every Vostro 1400 screen has the leakage (I've gone through all of them).
But I've come to live with it. It's not like you are gonna be staring at the black screen all day long.
If it looks fine during regular use then don't worry about and enjoy your notebook. That picture you posted was taken in a VERY VERY dark environment and it makes it look worse than it really is. I know because I have done that too, If I take a picture of my LCD in DARK room (pitch black), then I can see the same amount bleeding but during regular daily use, I honestly have no complaints what so ever.

I rather have a light leakage major amount of Grain.

Ok I think the vostro 1400 is all good now. I just have to sit 3 feet away from the screen and do some angle adjustment When watching videos on this computer. I just did it and i don't notice leakage

My Vostro 1400 has exactly the same Light Leakage pattern, but it is less than on a picture. I got 1280x800 LG Philips Antiglare screen. Most of the leakage is uniformly distributed on the bottom of the screen.
