I just got my 1400 today and my 2GB of Cosair RAM has been waiting for it.

I got the first stick in no problems, but I've searched everywhere on how to install the second stick of RAM under the keyboard and I can't find instructions that make it clear to me.

I'm staring at the top of the laptop with keyboard removed right now...all I see is a metal guard and it doesn't look like it'd be easy to remove.

Any help would be appreciated, especially pictures.

I had a 1500 step by step, but the internals look different. I'm starting to worry that my 1400 might only have one slot. Any 1400 owners out there know for sure?

Ok, I guess I was in such a hurry to install the 2nd stick I completely overlooked that there are two sticks right on top of eachother.

Here is a picture of the installed RAM in case anyone else is confused about this.

So does that mean its easier to install ram on the 1400 rather than the 1500?

Yes I just install 2x1 GB of OCZ last night on my Vostro 1400. They are sitting pretty much on top of each other. Easy to change no keyboard to take out like 1500.

Did it in 15 mins total. Btw, anyone has any idea the size of the screws on the memory cover. Damn I stripped one of them and need one. Can it be had from any local store. Please don't say go to HomeDepot, I doubt they carry component screws. Thx.

I suppose it would be way easier to install than the 1500 - but I ended up taking apart the keyboard anyways. At least I know what the guys look like xD

I expected one stick to be under the keyboard as well after hearing 1500 owners, but I found both sticks on the bottom of my 1400 too, so it's probably a model difference.

DDR2 So-Dimm 667MHz. I would put max of 2GB in each slot. And only 2 in each if installing 64Bit windows.
