This BIOS is unstable on Merom processor notebooks. Do not upgrade.

    No issues here.

Seems to reduce Audio Skipping! However, it's still there...

The new BIOS is said to bring thermal improvements. Did it make the fan run more often?

I can't comment on the fan, but there does seem to be less heat - this notebook was already on the cool side in the first place!!

I just ran LOTRO OC'd at 500/700 for half an hour and the left side of the notebook is no warmer than the right side. That's impressive!

So, I've been trying to download this sucker for the last 2 days and I can't... every time I download is doesn't extract the files I need. Gives me some "unexpected error." Why the crap do they put the rom/bin/whatever as an EXE and not a tarball, zip, or rar? This is idiotic. How bout giving me the bios file + the flash utility I need. Thnx!

I don't run retarded ass Windows.

Yeah.. I've had this problem once.. It's because you're crappy connection, lost packets and didn't download the file 100% correctly.

Every BIOS update I've seen has support for newer processors.. What makes you believe this one supports Penryn?

    Incorrect.

The issue was simply this: It "requires" Windows Hahaha. Secondly, it REQUIRES that the exe be placed on the Desktop itself. You can't have the file in any other directory and try to run it on your PC. Absolutely hilarious. Discovered this after reading some doc.

After updating the BIOS, now the fan noise when triggering WiFi catcher at off mode is gone. It is still working perfectly, but just without that half second of grinding noise from the fan. I guess that is part of the thermal control fix.
